WHAT IS "TAPPING"?
DOES IT WORK?
"Tapping" is the short cut name for the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) that is very well known.
Ever since I met a person who was rather good at "tapping" (she did it professionally), I have been considering figuring out a way to have it work for the people for whom I am writing this website.
I've seen the evidence that it was tied with one other technique for being the most effective for treating PTSD. The other technique, which is proven across many areas as the best, is simply cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). To get "good results", CBT took 14 times, while tapping took 2.
And, then, a very credible successful coach wrote a book on it, giving it further credibility. Jack Canfield co-authored a book called Tapping Into Ultimate Success - How To Overcome Any Obstacle And Skyrocket Your Results, rated on Amazon at 4.5 stars! One review speaks of a lack of prior success at trying tapping, but success with this book because of some specifics that are added that make it workable for that particular person. There are several other tapping books, if you look in Amazon, with 4.5 and 5 star solutions. If you're serious about this area, you would read at least 3 books besides setting up a plan for implementation (though at any point where you think it won't be productive to continue, you would stop).
I was impressed by the affirmations that came with the sessions that I witnessed with the pro mentioned above. I think those helped, though I was not quite yet convinced of the effect of tapping on "interrupting" patterns, which would, of course, weaken the patterns of thought.
So, with other priorities, I have left it there, but I hold it as a possibility of a potential tool to use. Though there are many books
