Avoid inflammatory foods! [Wheat, sugar, fried foods, transfats (zapped things with fat are turned to transfat equivalents, like popcorn)]
Eat as vegan as you can, at least doing the 8 servings of vegetables and several fruits. Minimize or cut out animal products. Stop every possible refined product.

Stop smoking,
Exercise (moderate walking every day, you'll feel better, too),
Find out if you're salt sensitive, sodium below 2300 mg/day
Potassium balance (bananas, spinach, use potassium salt, etc.), 2-4k mg/day
Bad minerals...(hair mineral analysis),
Get weight to ideal (reduce heart overworking and low energy),
Avoid refined carbs and sugar (diabetes kills, regular unrefined carbs are fine),
Minimize alcohol,
Avoid caffeine,
Eat fresh and healthy (see Dash Diet), low in saturated fat, more legumes
Get enough sleep!! (or you won't be restored, not awake feeling refreshed),
Manage your stress (relax, breathe, etc.).

MONITOR!
If this is a concern, monitor it weekly with a home blood pressure monitor!
Must be below 120/80, regardless of your age! Preferably 115 for high health.

Gingko biloba
Omega 3 oil - 2-3K mg/day Get HDL up
Multivitamin
CoQ10 - Dilates blood vessels
Dark chocolate 1/2 oz./day, 70% cocoa
Garlic
Fiber! (Blond psyllium, oat bran...)
Meditate
Exercise!!

Read two other selected books on the topic or you're not doing the minimum. Cure it!
Sleep problem?
Test yourself for sleep apnea, as people are often not aware of the problem, but it affects blood pressure and all of your health and heart!
