TRYING TO LIVE IN THE "LATER" WORLD
AND GOING NOWHERE, WHILE BEING STRESSED AND ANXIOUS

NOW OR LATER?  "COMPLETED LOOP OR OPEN LOOP?"

Why do the experts almost always say "start some action right now, even if it is only five minutes"?

Because it starts momentum and, if you follow the advice to immediately after the short start to tickle it for followup, you will actually get the result you want, instead of having it go into the ether world of "never", lost forever in oblivion.  This ether world, this great black hole, is also called the World Of "Later".

"I'll think about it later."  (The "later" term is often not used, but if it can be added to the sentence and still have it make sense, then it is implied in reality.)

"I'll do it later."  (Typically followed by no tickle or decision, other than maybe putting it in the great pile of laters on a big to do list, so big that the "laters" are overwhelming, unprocessed rotting into garbage, fermented by a vague worry and anxiety, producing nothing positive...)

If one does not start on something of importance right now, the momentum is not started, yes, but also we must "close the loop" and not leave a gap that will occupy the primitive mind, which HAS TO close all gaps as an old survival mechanism that survived because it works.  A closed loop, in this case, is an action decided on as to when it will be done and/or the ordered "next" list that will be followed up on, such that the primitive brain no longer has to worry about it being completed.  To understand this better see Orderganizing _ A Huge Impact On Productivity

TIME REALITY

The reality is that "later" never comes, though people talk as if it will.  Be cautious in dealing with these people, as they do not have a concept of reality and will tend to not be able to judge when and how fast they can get something done.  They will be last minute in trying to come through with something, be highly stressed, and they will create tension and stress for other people.  The general recommendation, even if the person is sharp, is to just stay away from them.  They lack "time integrity" and thereby cannot live integrously.

NO RESULTS, BUT LOTS OF EFFORT, LOTS OF ACCUMULATED CRAP

People who live in the belief world of "later" are burdened down with unsolved problems and undone to dos.  We can spot them as they are burdened with anxiety and stress, sometimes completely standing still while revving their engines and spinning their tires up in the air, without the "rubber meeting the road", getting nowhere but expending lots of energy and attention to do so.

DO YOU LIVE IN THAT WORLD?

Do you live in that belief world?

Do you have lots of undones and/or unresolved problems?

Well, I recommend that you stop that.  Not later, but now.  Right now.

Most people do not really get into action because they fail to completely answer the questions above and to acknowledge, in writing, "what is so".  (See The Necessity Of Acknowledgement - If One Is To Move Forward In Life From Dysfunctionality.)

List all of your unsolved problems, taking an hour or two and them put them in order and at least tickle the list to be reviewed weekly, tackling at least one per week, setting aside a definite block of time to do so.  Keep the list in your smaller reminders notebook or a place you know you can find it.

This is the world where our prototypical Daniel lives - and the results in his life reflect it. He is so busy now he can't fix anything or do long term solving of problems, so he is operating in waist deep life rubble and disorganization, constantly pushing it aside as he struggles through the muck.

Another effect of the "later" strategy

Using "later" as a strategy masks the fact that there is just too much to do - and it creates an enormous amount of anxiety, as one tries to suppress the memory of there being so many open loops.  And "unending" supply of to dos creates a life of dissatisfaction and a context of "never done".
