HEED THEM!

If one looks across all the major philosophies (often also called wisdom disciplines), one sees the truths that, if one examines them thoroughly, make sense and should be followed in order to achieve happiness (which is composed of everything from nirvana, peace of mind, satisfaction, fulfillment to feeling good “about” some thing, someone, or oneself).  These are a prescription for how to live the good life!

To what degree are you living these, from 0% to 100%?

__ The way to a good life is to learn how things work and how to work them. (Duh!)
__ Learn from the wisest…dead or alive.  Model yourself after the most life
          successful.
__  Be around those people who are wisest (most successful at life), for you will
learn from them and also become more like them.
__  Learn what reality is - and align with its laws to create a harmonious, powerful
          life
__ Do not become a victim of unreasonable expectations.

__ Learn how to use, and then do,  “right thinking” - questioning, examining, reasoning, logic, fact verification, and devising solutions.

__ Apply thinking to life until you have decided, solved, and taken control over that which you can best control.  (__ Reflect, every day, learn from what didn’t work, and what did work).

__ Man should learn, and train, to control his attention to direct it to what is life enhancing and away from the thoughts that are life diminishing.

__ Learn to apply your life to what you can control and not to waste it on what you cannot (and the various “degrees” of it in between).

__ It is foolish to spend any of life on anything but what is best for life, for the best use of one’s life - to waste it is to not have it at all.  Read and follow this.

__ Knowing the nature of man and having compassion, especially self compassion .  If a man does what is “evil” or “wrong” it is simply that he is unaware of that which would have him do what is of most good - the idea of "fault" is invalid.

DISCUSSION OF THE “WISDOMS” FOR LIFE

If you are not living those basic life truths of what works, you are wasting a large part of your life.  You MUST live these and make sure, first, that you have learned these and that you are operating based on them!  For right now, just focus on those - don’t pass over them as trivial or something you’ve “heard before, so…”.  These ARE the secrets of life, period.  Looking for shortcuts or miracles are a waste of time.  Just assure that you are fully (at least 90% in each) living these!

This is not A way, it is the ONLY way to the greatest life.

It is the way having more a life more filled with what is good and valuable for you, with massively less "bad stuff" in it.  It is the road to an easy life, full of peace, true enjoyment, satisfaction, fulfillment, and unconditional, enduring happiness.

As I look at Stoicism and at Buddhism, Plato and other great, fully formed philosophies,  I see their commonality, despite different wording (and the misconceiving of the ideas by the layman) and their explanations of the unknowable and/or unexplainable).   Stoicism agrees with Buddhism, Plato agrees with Socrates, and… agrees with ... at the core of all of the philosophies!

Now, for a few more notes, ending with “What To Do About This” (see it in the linked document, below.)
