THE BULL'S EYE OF LIFE, "SHOOTING THROUGH THE MIDDLE"
THE MIDDLE WAY, "SUFFICIENT" MASTERY, SELECTIVE FOCUS, WITHOUT ANXIETY

This is about how to best live your live.  Just enough skills in what really matters, no self concern as you know you'll do and be fine.

This is also about the conclusions of the master gurus.  Buddha tried ascetism, experienced wealth and even opulence.  And in the end, he decided the best route was to go The Middle Way.

The Middle Way in life is following the path of "flow", which opens up the human capacity to cause a much better life.  And part of the path involves eliminated the emotional barriers that narrow down one's resources available for easily making life great.  Consider this hierarchy of flow, below, and then consider and choose which way to live your best life.

In the piece The Sweet Spot In Life, we refer to the metaphor of surfing, where we are trying to "shoot the curl" of the wave, going to the side just fast enough to avoid the crashing wave, while going forward and speeding along, in the joy of the ride!

Metaphorically, this is what happens to you in life:

Too slow to the side, the wave crashes on you.
Just right, shoot the curl successfully
Not playing, don't get out there or get out there too little.

Living the life that "flows", without anxiety and without undue pressure, is reached by learning, as soon as is feasible,  "Sufficient Knowing" and then matching that level to what you want in life - but only what you really want - and definitely not stretching yourself into emotional oblivion and imbalance in life and not seeking excessive success in financial terms or other terms, not seeking approval or perfection, not trying to be above realistic limitations of a human being - and being sure to always stay in or return asap to living in The Zone - and perhaps choosing the The H+ Power Zone higher part of The Zone.

PRESSURED, IMPAIRED "PERFORMANCE"
(Too much, leading to too little)

Too much pressure and drive to succeed, not be seen as underperforming or not competent, "shoulds", unrealistically high expectations, seeking too much perfection, overly dependent on approval
Anxiety & self-concern takes up mental and emotional space and attention (so one cannot function fully)

FLOW
(Just right, happy)

Where the skills meet the challenges for the greatest forwarding of life (achieve Sufficient Knowing)
Single-minded immersion and focus (no distractions)
Caught up in the positive emotion of it.
A confirmatiory "feeling" of (some) mastery (rewarded evolutionarily)
Feel energized
Time seems to pass without thought (actually without self-concern)
Lots of mental space and energy
Living in The Zone

THE UNSATISFYING LIFE
(Too little)

"Boredom", nothing challenging enough, nowhere to go
Dependency on "out there" (people, stimulants, distractors, time occupiers, getting approval)
Others determine the person's life
Not "sufficiently" masterful

This is a supplemental
look at "Flow"

The sweet spot in life

Hitting The Sweet Spot Range In Life...For The Best Results For The Effort, Limiting The Downsides - It so happens that this way of living also has one using the principle of diminishing return, where one does one thing only to the point where its extra return for the effort is more than where else the effort can be invested - and at that point he switched to what is more valuable for the time. If one is drawn to the extremes of seeking success, fame, attractiveness, perfection, etc., one goes too far with little extra return in the area but a great loss in the value in other areas of life.  And the anxiety that accompanies this mode of operating often uses up  alot of mental and emotional energy such that one cannot function well, even though trying harder!!!
