USING SLEEP TO CONSOLIDATE AND LEARN CORRECTED BELIEFS
FOR A MUCH GREATER LIFE! 


LIVING FROM OUTDATED BELIEFS?

I think you'd agree that if we left our beliefs as a 7 year old intact and didn't upgrade them that would be very "unsmart" and very limiting as to the level of life we would live.

But we all tend to leave old beliefs intact and unquestioned and thus uncorrected, lowering the level of life we are living at. 


HOW FAR SHOULD WE GO?

The question, then, is to what degree should we upgrade our beliefs and what level should we stop at (or slow down) this upgrading? 

I would propose that we do the upgrading as fast and as soon as possible, in the most efficient and effective way. 


USE AN EFFORTLESS TOOL

Part of that process would lie in utilizing the process of sleep as an effortless "tool"  to use to better install our upgraded beliefs.

In the book The Twenty Four Hour Mind,  Rosalind Cartwright ( a leading sleep researcher) states what most of us probably have heard and "know" (but do not utilize!):

"...one of the ways sleep works is by enhancing the memory of important bits of new information and clearing out unnecessary or competing bits, and then passing the good bits on to be integrated into existing memory circuits.”


WHAT TO DO WITH THIS

Based on this, it would seem to be smart to put forth, so it is in the forefront of thought, that which we would most like the brain to integrate into our memory circuits for creating a better life.  And it wouldn't hurt (and should help) to review that same material early in the morning, so it is back in the forefront of the brain for operating during the day. 

Keep in mind that the brain is strictly mechanical, so it operates on the basis of mechanical laws.  One of the laws is that neuronal patterns that already exist can only be replaced by the same method that created their strength in the first place:  repetition.
(Emotional relevance also is a great effector, as it creates dopamine which then intensifies the memory, since the related items has "survival value" and thus great relevance worthy of remembering!)


WHAT TO SAY, HOW AND WHEN

So, now, what should I say/do and how and when should I say/do it? 

Whatever it is, it is important to keep it brief (as your faculties may not be tolerant of too much thinking later in the evening).  Also, we can only make a very few changes at any one time, for there is limited neuronal material available to dismantle from one item to use to construct the new items. 

First, you must start with a "supply" of what to say (which I call "statements").  But the rub here is that it takes some time on your part to construct the statements that are most relevant for you.  To make that easier, I will supply a set of statements that you can use as is and/or modify or rearrange according to your judgment of what is best for you.  See Key Beliefs To Install Late At Night (although it can be used any time).

And... remember, it is all mechanical!

Will you do what it takes to assure that your beliefs are upgraded and highly functional, knowing that is the only way to having a great life?
