THE MASTER'S JOURNEY
LIVING THE HERO'S JOURNEY
For those who truly seek life mastery and self mastery, the journey is a great one but at times not a smooth one, as we break through areas that are challenging anew or wander into a forest where we get lost, but continue to forge onward.
As we hit new areas of challenge and/or slide into a weaker state, we can fall into the realm of the Primitive Mind where it provides us with the most discouraging internal dialogue, in its own way trying to deal with what it sees as a threat, a "something's wrong here and I might not survive" (a statement made without true perspective).
But, alas, all is not lost and we are not defeated.
Indeed, as we've stepped along the path of learning and building, we have made progress which can never be taken away from us, even when we take the next step in life and are temporarily stopped or experience loss or a fallback.
It is only through our willingness to move forward, even if we have to pick ourselves up from temporary discouragement and the dialogue of the Primitive Mind, that we show we are to become true Masters Of Life.
There is no better way in life, for surely a life where we do not risk going forward will provide us with more discouragement, more loss, and more repeated problems, with no real possibility of living a vibrant or happy life.
The true Master, when "in state", remembers that there is no true pain inherent in making mistakes nor in falling down and getting up nor in trying something beyond one's current ability. (The emotional pain/suffering comes from the false assessments we tell ourselves "about" what the mistakes mean.)
The Master knows at the highest level (groks) that that is just part of learning, for before we learn we are in ignorance and must therefore not quite know how not to make a mistake or "fail". The true Master knows that there is no threat to one's core at all - and that there is nothing to actually fear.
We are in our true power when we are "in state", such that our higher brain is functioning well and in charge. If we are not "in state" (in a state of resourcefulness, where our body and mind are in well functioning homeostatic balance and power), we will be subject to the operations ignorance of the Primitive Mind, which is constantly trying to solve the "out of balance" state that threatens it and throws it into the fear response that literally shuts down the functionality of the higher brain.
Our first job is ALWAYS to stay in and/or return as quickly as possible to our homeostatic, well functioning Power Zone, where the mature adult is in charge and compassionately, kindly running the reactionary, scared child (the Primitive Mind). Except in a gross emergency where there is no time to do so, that return to balance and well functioning is your immediate priority, for you cannot function well in the lower states of being nor is it any way to live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Note how one (the higher self) is "out of control" (not in control) when one has sunk into the lower states where the Primitive Mind is in charge, where it is seeking immediate relief often in with something that throws one into a downward spiraling, where one harmful but expedient escape leads to another move that is based on fear/discouragement/damaging. Note how the primitive mind "faults" you for your lower functionality (and then further throws you downward into more negative thinking). The truth is that there is "No Fault" - and knowing that will free up huge amounts of energy to use for higher value purposes!
It is up to you to remember, even when you are in a dysfunctional state of being, that you must drop all else and engage in those steps that you've decided on to be able to restore full functionality, from sleep and adequate rest through re-minding oneself of the higher thinking, healthy inner dialogue that brings one back to true sanity... (See, of course, the written version of what you will do, which would be similar to The Checklist For Homeostasis. It will be domiciled in your Re-Minders Notebook, which you can easily stagger over to as it is readily reachable.)
The Masters Of Life know, clearly, that, except for the mundane things that the Primitive Mind is able to do well and regularly, we truly experience life in our higher, clear, conscious higher brain that is the true "I". The Primitive Mind evolved to support the survival of the "I" but is full of outdated and erroneous programs that we must consciously rework/rewire to full workability, tolerating no less in life!
THE "HERO'S JOURNEY"
Joseph Campbell uses myths to illustrate the hero's journey (Wikipedia) through life - where we venture forth into a new forest, fall into the abyss or experience great challenge, but, inevitably, grow in the process. We, essentially, spiral upward over the years to a higher level but come around over the same spot in life, to confront the next level of "not knowing yet", then seeking new knowledge to handle it, either directly or through the helpers that we find (because we are looking) to assist us up to the next level.
The call to "get better" (something isn't right, we see what we "don't want)
↓
We turn that around into what we do want/desire
↓
We seek to "close the gap"
↓
We first go forth into "the unknown" (to learn)
↓
We seek, until we find, the helpers, the mentor, the wisdom
↓
Old ideas and ways are "disrupted" and must be given up (die)
↓
Resistance occurs
New commitment is required to "overcome" or clear it away
↓
We construct and follow a path (plan)
↓
"Revelation" (true learning) occurs
↓
Transformation occurs (we are in a new "form" of being)
↓
But in fits and starts, failures, new learning, challenges
↓
We push through them
↓
New attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors emerge and are installed
↓
We return to a new world
Each time living life in a constantly rising personal power and
"knowing"/wisdom
THE TRUE MASTER FOLLOWS "THE PATH"
When there is no path or a "I'll learn it when I discover it", there is inadequate progress and not enough time to get even close to mastery.
Of course, we cannot know ahead of time the perfect path and will have to make changes and corrections. If we do it avidly, we will be following the ways of being of the true life champion, noticing, adjusting, getting correction installed quickly and well (with practice!) Those who will do the best will be those who persist consistently, using something like The Life Improvements Journal
Those who persist in holding on to (or go to slowly to change it) old beliefs and ways of thinking will be held back by "not being good enough", "having to be approved of", numbing themselves to "release inhibitions", spending too much time seeking highs or not well selected "fun" (all of some value, but often pushing out things of more value) (Read and install, to fit your life, my virtually costless Life Value Productivity book, and toss away that which will not give you your best life full of "Life Value".)
WHAT WILL YOU CHOOSE?
If you choose to stop at just reading this, you will likely not progress at all.
If you choose to follow the links and the paths suggested, you will be choosing to follow the path to being a true Life Master...
